The next 2 days passed in the same way.Iknoor wasn't going to the hospital and if anyone from the family tried to convince her for the same she would again give the same explanations she had given earlier.

She had accepted that she couldn't do this job anymore,that she wasn't meant for this.

Mahir was very disappointed with her actions but then he understood that she needs some space right now,he surely was again going to talk to her about her decision of leaving the hospital.

Everyone did try to cheer up Iknoor but that wasn't happening because she was gloomy and sad all the time,she wasn't talking much and would just give replies to something that was asked to her.

It was bothering the Sehgal family because this wasn't how a daughter in law has ever been in their house,they have always tried to keep them all happy.

Most of the time Iknoor would spend in her room because she didn't want to talk to anyone.She would come downstairs only during meal times to help her mother in law and then have a meal with everyone and then again leave.

Right now also she was in her bedroom.

The family was sitting downstairs having their evening tea,they called her downstairs but she had declined it politely stating she didn't wish to have tea.

"Arre Ikbir beta?tum?aao aao betho"Andy said as he saw Ikbir walking in.

"Namastey uncle, namastey aunty,kese h aap sab?"Ikbir asked as he smiled at them.

"Badiya,tum batao"Sumitra said.

"Sab thik h aunty.....woh mein bas Noorie ka kuch saaman dene aaya tha,woh lekr aana bhul gayi thi na isliye...aur socha usse milta bhi chalu,ab tak toh hospital se aa jaana chahiye usko,h na?"Ikbir asked and the Sehgal's didn't comment on the hospital part.

"Woh apne kamre mein h"Bela said and asked a house help to get her.

"Baaki sab kese h ghar pe?"Pinky dadi asked.

"Sab badiya h aunty,abhi toh sab Amritsar mein hi h,thode dino mein yaha aayenge"Ikbir said as his paternal and maternal family were both in Amritsar only.

"Acha"Sumitra said.

Iknoor walked downstairs and her eyes landed on her brother,a smile formed on her face after a long time seeing him.

She quickly made her way towards him and hugged him.Ikbir smiled at her antics and hugged her back, patting her head as if she was a lil girl.

But for him,she was.

His lil Noorie.

"Kesi h tu?"Ikbir asked breaking the hug and Iknoor just nodded her head at that.

"Mein woh tera alarm clock lekr aaya tha,tu iske bina uth hi nhi paati h,mujhe laga tujhe zarurat padegi iski,aur Meher ne aur bhi tera kuch saaman tha woh bhijwaya h"Ikbir said handing her the bag he had got for her.

Iknoor looked at the bag and then at her brother.

He came here all the way just to give her the alarm clock.

He cared so much for her convenience.He didn't want her to have any problems and here she was in a web of problems.

If only she could tell her Bhai everything,he would make things right!

But she can't!

For both the families.

She couldn't control herself and tears poured down from her eyes which she has not been shedding since the past two days.

Ikbir frowned seeing her tears.

Iknoor hugged him tightly, hiding her face in his chest as more sobs escaped her lips.

Ikbir's arms instantly went around her rubbing her back as his eyes stared at her in law's with questions in them.

Why was his sister crying so miserably just after a week of her wedding?

Had they said something to her?

Has Nirvair done something to her?

"Kya hua h Noorie?kisi ne kuch kaha h kya tujh se?"He asked not at all caring that her in-laws were hearing him.

His sister mattered the most to him.

Iknoor shook her head in denial not looking up at him but still crying.

"Nirvair ne kuch kaha?"Ikbir again asked and she still shook her head in denial.

Then what was bothering her?

"Kya hua h Noorie?bata mujhe,I promise sab thik kr dunga mein"Ikbir said as he broke the hug and cupped her face,wiping her tears with his thumbs.

Iknoor still shook her head in denial making Ikbir more worried.

What happened?

Why wasn't she telling him?

"Bata na Noorie?kya hua h?"Ikbir again asked but Iknoor still didn't say anything, increasing his worry.

He looked at her in law's,his eyes demanding answers from them.

If his sister was crying they must know the answer!

"Aunty,kuch hua h kya?"Ikbir asked looking straight at Bela.

"Iknoor ke ek patient ki delivery unsuccessful hui thi, hospital mein,ussi cheez ko lekr bht udaas h"Bela said not sharing much because it would be better if the brother sister talk themselves.

"Tu pagal h kya?itna roo rahi h iss cheez ke liye?"Ikbir said as he looked at his sister who was still crying.

Bela gestured him that it was a lil sensitive topic for her.Ikbir sighed and then looked at Andy.

"Uncle,mein Noorie ko ghar le jaata hu thode dino ke liye"Ikbir said,he wasn't asking for permission because she was his sister first and then their daughter in law.

Andy nodded at that.

Maybe the change of environment would lead her to be normal again.

She anyways had cooped herself in the bedroom here,hardly talking to anyone.

"Nh..nhi..mein..thi..

"Chup kr tu!aur chal mere saath"Ikbir cut her off and held her hand.

"Chalta hu Uncle"Ikbir said addressing Andy who nodded at him.

He held her hand and took her with him towards his car,making her sit he turned on the engine.

"Mein thik hu Bhai,aap mujhe wapas chod do"Iknoor said,she didn't wanted to bother anyone.

"Chup chap beth!"Ikbir said and she sighed.

Once they reached their house,Meher was a lil surprised seeing her but anyways she was very happy.They both had missed Iknoor alot.

Today also Ikbir had went their not to deliver those items but just so that he can meet her,he had missed his lil sister a lot and wanted to know if she was doing well even though he talked to her on the phone daily,he just wanted to see it with his eyes and seeing her cry he couldn't leave her there like that.

"Hua kya h yeh toh bata tu?"Ikbir asked once the trio have had their dinner.

Iknoor had her dinner,her Bhai tried a lot to ease her up which did worked to some extent.

Iknoor sighed and looked at her brother who won't keep quiet till she doesn't tells him what had happened.

So she narrated him the whole incident,and also that thing that she had resigned from her job.She yet again cried when's he recalled the death of her patient.

It was still fresh wound for her and it hurted like hell.

Ikbir and Meher both were shocked hearing that she had resigned from her job.

They had seen how much she had worked hard to get this job!

She hadn't even applied in any other hospital because she just wanted to work with Sanjeevni!

She left her job!

The matter was too serious that means!

"Noorie...

"Bhai please mujhe iss baare mein baat nhi krni h!sabka sun sun kr mein thak chuki hu...mera decision final h"Iknoor said as she wiped her tears and Ikbir sighed.

Meher gestured him to not talk about it right now.

"Acha thik h nhi krte issbaare mein baat bas?"Meher said and Iknoor nodded hearing that.

"Doodh bournvita peeyegi?"Meher asked but Iknoor shook her head in denial hearing that.

"Mein lekr aa rahi hu!chup chap pee lena!"Meher said sternly making Iknoor chuckle at her actions.

Her bhabhi can never be stern with her,she was just too good for it!

Meher got 3 cups of milk and bournvita for the three of them,the three then indulged in random conversations they used to do before her marriage.

"Jaa so jaa jaakr,thaki hui lag rahi h tu"Ikbir said and Iknoor nodded and left towards her bedroom.

Ikbir sighed as she left.

"Abhi usse baat krke fyada nhi h iss baare mein,usse thoda time dete h,tumhe pata h na woh kitni emotional h?"Meher said and Ikbir agreed with her and he was worried about this very thing.

From what he had heard he knew his sister was too upset losing her patient and it was too much for her right now.

"Kal baat krta hu usse wapas,abhi toh yahi h na"Ikbir said and Meher nodded at that.

Iknoor on the other hand was feeling a bit nostalgic even if it had been just a week that she had been away from her home.

She had missed her family the most,being back was kind of refreshing.

As she laid down on her bed she sighed as comfort hit her,she was at ease after a week's emotional roller coaster.For a moment she forgot all the bad things that have happened with her in the past week.

She fell asleep within a few mins that she laid down on the bed.

Ikbir came and checked up on her to see if she was sleeping or stressing over the same thing as she usually does.

He was glad that she was asleep.He left her room and went into his.

Next day,

Ikbir took a leave from his work to spend some time with his sister,so did Meher.

The trio had a lazy morning,they ordered some breakfast from outside consisting of their always favourite Fafda,jalebi,piping hot bread pakoda and a full cup of home made tea.

Iknoor enjoyed the morning with them and then her brother again started the same topic she has been avoiding which made her upset again and she left in her bedroom.

Ikbir sighed.

She hadn't even come downstairs for lunch stating she wasn't much hungry,they didn't forced her because they had a late breakfast which was quite filling.

"Aise toh kese manegi yeh?baat hi krne ko ready nhi h uss baare mein"Ikbir said looking at his wife.

"Usse thoda time dete h,I think 1-2 din mein normal ho jayegi"Meher said.

"Honi chahiye wrna she is going to ruin her future!aise kese job chod diya!"Ikbir said and Meher sighed.

She too was shocked hearing that she had resigned from her job.

"Didn't Nirvair say anything to her?woh husband h uska usse samjhna chahiye na?yaha kal se aayi h woh aur usne mujhe ek call krke nhi pucha agar woh thik h ya nhi!"Ikbir said the thing which was irking him the most.

"Tumhe kyu puchenge?Noorie se khud puch lenge na?"Meher said and that did made sense but Ikbir still was annoyed with Nirvair.

Just then the doorbell rang and the househelp went and opened the door.

Ikbir and Meher were surprised seeing Nirvair walk in.

Meher greeted him with a polite smile which he reciprocated while Ikbir had his eyes narrowed down at him to which Nirvair rolled his eyes.

"Tum yaha kese?"Ikbir asked and Meher glared at him,he was the son in law of the house, offcourse he could come here.

"Mujhe Iknoor se baat krni h"Nirvair said.

"Toh jab woh waha thi tab kr lete na or you were busy at that time too"Ikbir said not able to keep his annoyance hidden about the Paghphere thing.

Nirvair sighed.

"I know tum upset ho paghphere wali cheez ko lekr.But I really didn't know ki mujhe aana tha usse lene,I thought woh khud aayegi,mujhe nhi pata tha aisa koi ritual hota h ki husband ko hi lene aana hota h,aur sach kahu toh I was really stuck with an important work too"Nirvair said and Ikbir sighed.

There was no point stretching the topic for now.

"Tumne kyu nhi try kiya Noorie ko samjhane ka?"Ikbir asked then changing the topic.

"Jese ki meine try nhi kiya tha!woh kisi ki sunna hi nhi chahti h"Nirvair said.

"Tumse ki kya baat usne?"Nirvair asked then to which Ikbir shook his head in denial.

"She is still upset with that incident "Ikbir said.

"Koi upset nhi h"Nirvair said making Ikbir glare at him.

"Woh khud ko self blame kr rahi h!which is wrong!uski galti thi hi nhi aur usse yeh acche se pata bhi h,I swear agar mein 5 min usse baat karunga na iss topic pr she is going to change her decision"Nirvair said so confidently that Ikbir had his eyebrows raised at that.

"Arre sach keh raha hu mein!do you even know the patient she lost was never going to have a normal pregnancy and delivery,actually she shouldn't have kept the pregnancy,Iknoor ne usse bola tha ki delivery mein dikkat aayegi plus she had made it clear before hand that either the lady would survive or the babies would survive,ab phir uss lady ko pregnancy rakhna tha toh woh uska decision h but usmein Iknoor ki toh koi galti nhi h na?aur wese bhi doctor h yaar woh,bhagwan thodi ki hrr kisi ko bacha sake?failure aate h sabki life mein,but iska matlab yeh toh nhi h na ki give up kr de!"Nirvair said and Ikbir was a lil surprised that Nirvair knew so much about the incident when even he didn't knew this.

Maybe he had digged a lil into the matter and had come to know what had happened.

But whatever he said was true.

Doctor's are human too.

They can't create miracles now can they?

Plus they do put their heart,soul and body into what they do,yet if they fail then it's destiny!

"And what is the need to be so emotional at your work?keep your work and private life separate! professional behave karo na kaam krte waqt,hrr pateint ke saath dil lagaoge toh affect toh karega hi na?aise kese kaam kr payegi woh?...chalo yeh toh first time tha uske liye,aage bhi aisa ho sakta h na ki woh patients ko kho de!hrr baar agar woh aise upset ho jayegi toh kese chalega?agar duniya ke saare doctor's aisa karnege toh kon treat karega patients ko?"Nirvair said and Ikbir and Meher agreed with him completely.

This profession was uncertain,not everyone could be saved,but those who can be saved are saved!

"Haa pr usse kon samjhaye yeh sab?"Meher bhabhi said.

"Agar meri sunti toh 2 min mein samjha deta,she is bloody not ready to talk about it!"Nirvair said and Ikbir glared at him.

"She needs time"Ikbir said.

"4 din ho gaye h uss incident ko,she can't take this much time coping up with it!she is a doctor,if ek patient na sahi toh kisi aur ko toh bachana h na usse? that's her job!and when duty calls you,one must forget their own sorrow and pain to serve other's!"Nirvair said seriously.

"Noorie thodi sensitive h"Ikbir defended his sister.

"Ha toh thik h na? personal life mein rahe sensitive! professional life mein kyu aise behave krna?she shouldn't mix these two"Nirvair said.

Ikbir sighed.

Even though he wanted to disagree he couldn't,what Nirvair was saying was true.

"Ab kya krna h?"Ikbir asked.

"I think mujhe usse baat krni chahiye"Nirvair said because he was sure he could convince her.

"She is not ready to talk to anyone about it"Ikbir countered.

"Haa phir bhi mujhe try toh krne do!"Nirvair said and Meher nodded at that.

Ikbir wasn't sure about it but then agreed with his wife to let him try too.

"Kaha h woh?"Nirvair asked and Ikbir said she was in her bedroom.

He pointed out the directions and Nirvair nodded and left.

As he reached her bedroom and knocked the door he didn't got any response,he again tried but again no response,so the third time he just opened the door and entered inside.

She was laying on the bed on her chest,her hands below her head as she widened her eyes seeing him.

He had called her multiple times yesterday but she hadn't answered to even a single one of his call.

"Tum yaha kya kr rahe ho?jao yaha se!"Iknoor said surprised at the same time irritated seeing him in her room.

Why would her Bhai allow him to come here?

But then for the world he was her husband,why would they deny him from visiting her?

Nirvair was quick to lock the door behind him and approach her.

Iknoor got up from the bed glaring at him.

"Yeh mera bedroom h!you can't enter here without my permission!and I don't allow you to be here,go now!"Iknoor said angrily but Nirvair had a calm expression on his face.

"Can we talk?"He asked.

"No,never!"Iknoor said stubbornly.

"No you don't!you don't know anything,so stop this fake care and concern and leave me alone!I am your unwanted wife!yeh drama logo ke samne krna mere saamne nhi!"Iknoor said and Nirvair was sure she was still hurt with what he had said on their wedding night.

He sighed.

He deserved it after all.

"Okay,can we please keep that topic aside for now?I am really sorry for that,but I know you don't want to talk about it....

"I don't want to talk to you about anything!"Iknoor said.

"Okay,but abhi ke liye please meri baat suno"Nirvair said calmly as he sat on the bed.

"Nhi,better hoga tum jao yaha se!"Iknoor said.

Nirvair have had enough for now.

He wasn't here to apologise to her because he knew she needed time for it,he had made a big mistake.

He wanted to talk to her about the incident that happened at the hospital but she wasn't ready to listen.

He pulled her wrist as she was standing close to the bed and made her sit beside him on the bed.

Iknoor opened her mouth to protest but Nirvair kept his other palm against her mouth to shush her.

"Bas!bht bol diya tumne!now listen to me very carefully Iknoor!"He said and her eyes widened at his gesture.

He slowly moved his palm away not touching her anymore.

"Okay,mein kuch nhi kr raha hu!bas meri baat sun lo ek baar aur phir bhi tumhe mein galat lagta hu toh mein chala jaunga bas,aur tumhe bother bhi nhi karunga bilkul bhi,deal?"Nirvair asked and Iknoor stared at him for a min and the slowly nodded her head at him.

"Okay"Nirvair said and Iknoor waited for him to get done so that he could leave.

"See,I have never met your mother,or even seen her,maybe agar kabhi dekha bhi hoga toh I don't remember.....but I have heard about your mother from my parents a lot!meri mumma ki gynaec thi tumhari mumma,she was the one who had delivered me,Maahi and Shivansh so she was quite close to the family in a way"Nirvair said and Iknoor didn't knew all this but she was still confused as to why he was saying her all this.

This wasn't related to what had happened!

"But whenever papa talks about her,he talks with pride,she was one of the best doctor's Sanjeevni Hospital had!I am sure you became a doctor because you wanted to be like her"Nirvair said and Iknoor couldn't help but nod her head at that.

She had chosen this profession because of her mother,she wanted to be like her mother,wanted to feel close to her in this way.

"I don't think so tumhari mumma ko accha lagega jo tum kr rahi ho!she won't have wanted you to do this"Nirvair said.

"You don't know what my mumma wanted"Iknoor said staring at him.

"I know,but I know what your mumma would have wanted you to be,she wouldn't have wanted you to lose hope so early,so soon,on your first failure itself"Nirvair said and that brought tears in her eyes.

They weren't their in the OT when her patient had died!

They weren't the ones announcing their death times!

They could never understand how it felt!

"I know I can never understand it! nobody could!but that doesn't means you would lose hope,failure is a part of life Iknoor,I know doctor's ke liye failure means losing a life,but can't you see the brighter side? "If you have worked so hard for this,given your life to this thing,then you shouldn't leave it!aaj nhi hua tumse, it's okay,hrr din thodi kharab hoga, hamesha thodi kismat tumhare saath nhi hogi!think of the patients who still needs you!"Nirvair said.

"Tumhari mumma ne Sanjeevni se shuru kiya tha and she worked there till the end,aisa tumne kaha tha na mere papa se!toh tumhe bhi toh wahi krna h na?work till you can!I don't think so tumhari mumma ne kabhi failure nhi dekha hoga!but that doesn't means she got scared away and left her job,she didn't! She was a strong lady and would have wanted to build you even more strong then why are you doing this to yourself?if you want to be like her,then actually be like her!"Nirvair said and Iknoor wiped her tears.

What he was saying was right.

She wanted to be like her mumma,her mumma wasn't a coward who used to run away from difficulties like she did!

Her mumma used to face it!
