This happens before Mahir tells Nirvair about the girl, it's just the elders discussing the matter first.

As Mahir had found the girl and the rest of the family members had also approved of her,Andy had contacted the girl's Nanu because the girl's parents are no more and she lives with her maternal grandparents and her brother.

"Woh log chahte h ki pehle families mil le,phir ladka ladki ek dusre se mile"Andy said as he said what the girl's Nanu had said to him.

"Ha toh mil lete h na, problem kya h,maybe unhe kuch baat krni hogi pehele humse"Sumitra said.

"Haa dad mil lete h na,baadmein Nirvair bhi mil lega usse"Bela too agreed with the idea.

There wasn't any harm in meeting the family after all.

"Fine,they have called us Saturday at their home"Andy said and the elders all nodded.

As soon as Saturday approached Bela-Mahir, Shivaay-Pankhuri, Sumitra-Andy and Pinky-Shakti went to the girl's home to meet her family.

"Aaiye aaiye,Mr.Sehgal"Balbir Kapoor welcomed them in his humble abode alongside his wife.

"Namaste Mr.Kapoor"Andy greeted him,so did his family.

Sumitra looked curiously because Andy had said the girl lives with her maternal grandparents and brother but she could see a lot of people.

Who were they?

Soon her confusion was cleared as they were introduced too.

Apparently they were the girl's paternal grandparents and her bade papa and badi maa.They were here because it was their responsibility to make sure the alliance which had come for their daughter was a good one.

"Dekhiye Mr.Sehgal,mera ek hi Poti h,aur usko humne bht pyaar se rakha h,abhi uska shadi ka baat h toh hum aapse ekdam clear clear baat karega"Iknoor's paternal grandfather said, hearing his accent it was easy to guess he was a South Indian.

"Ji bilkul"Andy said gesturing him to speak ahead.

"My son and daughter-in-law passed away 10 years ago,so her maternal grandparents and we took care of her and her brother.It is our duty to make sure she is settled down in a good family with the right person by her side"Her maternal grandfather spoke and Andy and the rest of the Sehgal's nodded agreeing with him.

"Also we aren't getting younger with time,so we aren't looking just for an alliance now,we want to get her married by the end of this year,so if you have other plans we shouldn't talk further"Her maternal grandfather said straight away not giving them any false hope.

"We too want our son to get settled by the end of this year,we won't mind if the wedding takes place quickly"Andy said assuring them and they nodded at that.

"Phir toh sab badiya h ji,sirf ek hi baat h ki Iknoor nu munda changa lagna chahiye!agar uski haa h toh hamari bhi haa hi h"Iknoor's Nanu said and the Sehgal's agreed with it.

Iknoor's paternal grandparents and maternal grandparents both had digged deeper into the Sehgal family,they had tried to find out as much as they could about the family and also about Nirvair because they didn't want to take any chances with their beloved granddaughter's future.

Then only they had agreed to meet the family or else they would have politely refused the alliance as they had done to a lot they had received in the past.

"Hamari taraf se bhi koi problem nhi h,agar Nirvair haa keh dega toh hame bhi manzoor hi h"Andy said.

Bela and Mahir let the elders discuss the matters because Andy could easily make conversation with Iknoor's grandparents.

"Aap Mumbai mein hi rehte h sab?"Andy asked them.

"Nhi,nhi,yeh log Vishakapatnam mein rehte h,Iknoor ki shadi ke silsile mein yaha aaye huye h"Iknoor's nanu said and the Sehgal's nodded at that.

"Dekhiye bhaishab,hamari bht badi joint family h,sab saath hi rehte h,aapko pehele se hi bata raha hu mein,taaki aage koi problem na ho"Andy said.

"Arre don't worry about it Mr.Sehgal,hamara chellam ko joint families bht pasand h,hamara bhi bht bada family h,sab saath mein rehta h,pr abhi sab bacche work ki wajah se alag alag city mein rehne laga h,pr phir bhi aata jaata rehta h sab"Iknoor's paternal grandfather said with a smile.

"Sorry uncle kisko joint family pasand h?"Pankhuri asked as she didn't understand whom he was referring to.

"Chellam is an endearment in Tamil,mera granddaughter ke liye,usko koi naam se bulata hi nhi sab aise hi pyaar se kuch na kuch bulate rehte h"Iknoor's paternal grandmother spoke this time clearing their confusion.

Aww,that was sweet.

"Hanji joint family ka toh koi issue hi nhi h"Iknoor's maternal grandmother said.

"Also Nirvair bht zyada dedicated h apne kaam ko lekr,aur uska work timing bhi thoda unusual h,he does tries to manage his personal and professional life but at times he is not able to do so....mein aapko pehele se hi bata raha hu taaki aage chalkr iss wajah se koi dikkat na ho"Mahir said this time,he wanted to clear everything,he didn't wanted to keep anything from them.

Iknoor's grandparents nodded as they heard that.

The families then indulged in a full on conversation getting to know each other well before they let their kids meet each other.

The Sehgal's were glad that this meeting happened because they got to know them personally and it was for their betterment only,they had liked the girl a lot,the family was good too,only if Nirvair agrees for the marriage now,they would happily get them married.

In the evening,

Iknoor's house,

Iknoor entered the house all tired,she had a hectic day today,she had performed 3 deliveries today,along with some routine check-ups.She just wanted to eat something good and sleep,she was tired!

As soon as she entered her home a delicious smell reached her nose and her lips turned upwards.

She knew her Patti(grandmother) had cooked her favourite rasam and rice!

The most wholesome comfort food!!!

"How was your day chellam?"Her thatha(grandfather)asked and she smiled at him.

"Brilliant but very tiring"She said.

"Aaja puttar beth jaa"Her nanu said.

"Nhi nanu,mujhe shower lena padega,abhi hospital se aayi hu aur meri aaj 3 deliveries thi!!nahakr aati hu phir beth ti hu aapke paas"She said as she made her way upstairs without greeting anyone else.

As she lives with her grandparents she always makes sure she gets a bath after coming from the hospital before she touches them or sits beside them, it's just a precaution she takes because her grandparents aren't young and she doesn't want to risk them getting sick because of any germs she passed onto them.

Once she was all showered she came downstairs and sat between her  thatha and nanu to talk to them.Her periappa(bade papa) too sat with her talking to her

Soon enough her thatha-Patti,nanu-nani,Periappa(bade papa)-Periamma(badi maa),bhai-bhabhi and she herself settled on the dining table enjoying the delicious rasam-rice and palak paneer that the ladies had cooked.

Post dinner she retired to her room because she was tired and once her tummy was full she was ready to crash the bed.

Downstairs,

"Are you guys sure about this guy?"Ikbir asked the elders.

"Haa ladka acha h,Noorie aur usmein zyada age difference bhi nhi h,ladke ki family bhi bht acchi h,ab ladke ki job se koi farak nhi padta h hame,hamari Noorie independent h,woh khud ke expenses khud manage kr sakti h,she won't have to be dependent on that guy,mujhe toh koi dikkat nhi h iss rishte se"Nanu said and the elders all nodded.

"Woh ladka mere school mein tha,mera hi classmate tha"Ikbir said and everyone stared at him then.

"Ha toh tujhe pata hi hoga kesa tha?"Nani asked.

"I don't know him that personally,but he was a pain in the ass in school for the teachers"Ikbir said recalling his school days when Nirvair was the most notorious boy of the class.

"Aiyoo sara ladka log naughty rehta bachpan mein,baadmein responsibile bhi ho jaata h"His Patti(dadi)said and Ikbir agreed with it but still he had a doubt regarding Nirvair.

"Arre tum tension mat lo! Agar ladka hamara chellam ko pasand aayega toh hi shaadi hoga,nhi toh dusra ladka dekh lega"His thatha(Dadu)said and Ikbir agreed with it.

"Wahi wese bhi I don't think Noorie mana karegi iss rishte ke liye"Meher, Ikbir's wife said and everyone looked at her suspiciously.

"Mera matlab h,agar aap sabko acha laga h ladka aur uski family,aur ladka accha bhi h toh I don't think so woh mana karegi"Meher said quickly explaining and everyone nodded at that.

Tejas Anna and Naman Anna-Son's of her Chitti and Chittappa,elder then Iknoor.

Iknoor Iyer-The youngest member of the Iyer family as well as the Kapoor family.The only granddaughter in both her Nanu's side of family as well as her thatha's side of family.26 Years old, gynecologist, currently working in Sanjeevni Hospital,Mumbai.

She knew they were looking for a proper alliance for her,since she has given her consent on getting married now with the guy they shall select.

She had often seen the two discussing stuff and she was sure it was about her alliance.

If her nanu was telling her about this guy then he might be serious because in the past months her nanu has received numerous proposals for her but her nanu had never mentioned a single guy to her, meaning he doesn't finds him eligible enough for her.

But this time he might have found the eligible man.

"Ji"Iknoor said.

"Tu chinta mat kr puttar,jab tak tu haa nhi kahegi viaah nhi hoga!!tujhe sirf milna h iss ladke se"Her nanu said and she smiled and nodded at him.

She was 26 now,had a good job and was settled according to her,she didn't had any problem getting married now,it felt the right time for her.And because she never had a boyfriend ever in her life she couldn't help but agree for an arranged marriage.

Also she is so indecisive at times,she feels she will surely commit a mistake finding the right guy for her and she was sure her nanu and thatha would only find the perfect man for her, anything less than that would not be accepted by them afterall for their lil Norrie.

"Haa wese bhi rishta humne nhi bheja h,samane se aaya h,you meet him and then decide wrna aur bhi bht saare ladka h"Her thatha said and she smiled at him and nodded.

"Thik h"Iknoor said.

"Sunday ko free hogi na tu Norrie?woh log Sunday ko aane ka keh rahe h"Nani asked.

"Mein free hu Sunday ko"Iknoor said and everyone nodded.

As Sunday approached,the family prepared for the welcome of the 'supposed groom'.

Meher was in charge to get Iknoor ready and get her down once the family arrives.The chef was asked to prepare numerous dishes,the servants had cleaned the house thoroughly and once Ikbir,his nanu-nani,thatha-patti periamma-periappa were ready they waited for the family to arrive.

"Dekh Noorie tu nervous mat hona,teri marzi ke khilaf kuch nhi honewala h,agar ladka sacchi pasand na aaye toh na kr dena!"Meher bhabhi said as she made her wear the earrings.

"Mein nervous nhi hu bhabhi!mein kyu nervous hone lagi bhala?mera hi ghar h,mere thatha aur nanu h mere saath,nervous toh uss ladke ko hona chahiye,kyuki agar usne mujhse kuch ulta seedha bol diya toh Bhai usse chodenge nhi"Iknoor said and Meher chuckled at her words.

"Pagali h bilkul,ladkiya nervous hoti h jab unke liye rishta aata h,aur yaha tu h ki uss ladke ka mazak uda rahi h"Meher bhabhi said.

"Arre pr nervous kyu hona h meine?sirf milna toh h usse,aur wese bhi konsa rishta pakka ho gaya h mera?"She said as she got up and stood in front of her asking for her comment.

"Bht pyaari lag rahi h"Meher bhabhi said honestly,because Iknoor looked beautiful.

"Chal ab neeche chal,woh log aate hi honge"Meher bhabhi said and both made their way downstairs.

"Hayee kinni soni lag rahi h!!kahi meri hi nazar na lag jaaye!"Her Nani said as she rotated her hands in front of her to take away the evil eyes.

Her thatha and nanu patted her head with a smile and her brother looked at her from top to bottom.

"Insaan lag rahi h aaj,shukar h,wrna ladke wale dekhkr hi bhaag jaatein!"Her brother as always teased her and she glared at him.

"Ha ha ha very funny!pata nhi bhabhi ne kya sochkr aapse shadi ke liye haa kaha!!poor bhabhi!"Iknoor said teasing him back and receiving a glare in return.

"Hayee ab dono shuru mat ho jaana!!ladke wale aanewale h bas!"Her nani interfered stopping a war which hadn't started yet.

"Mein ek baar sab snacks ka dekhkr aati hu nani"Meher bhabhi said and left,Iknoor too followed her to help her out.

Soon enough the groom's family arrived and they were welcomed by Iknoor's thatha,nanu,Periappa and Ikbir

"I hope aapko aane mein koi dikkat toh nhi hui hogi"Her nanu asked to start a conversation.

"No there wasn't any problem"Andy Sehgal said as he stared at the family.

"Yeh meri poti h Maahi aur yeh h Nirvair mera pota"Andy said as he introduced the two.

Bela-Mahir,Shivaay-Pankhuri had already met them once so they didn't need to be introduced.

Maahi and Nirvair did a small namastey to the elders.

Nirvair then looked up and saw Ikbir.

He remembered him,he was in his class,they studied in the same school after all.

Ikbir just gave a nod to him which he reciprocated.

"Yeh mera naati h Ikbir"His Nani said and Ikbir too greeted them all with a namastey.

"Mein abhi Iknoor ko bulati hu"Her periamma said and looked at Ikbir who nodded and left the living room.

"Noorie bahar chal,ladke wale aa gaye h"Ikbir said as he spotted his wife and sister laughing at something.

The two of them!

"Itni jaldi?"Meher asked.

"Ab unhe wapas toh nhi bhej sakta na?chalo bahar tum dono"Ikbir said and Meher rolled her eyes at him.

"Chal Noorie,yeh pakad ke bahar aaja tu"Meher said and gave her the tea tray.

"Kya 90's ki ladkiyon jese entry maarna zaruri h?"Iknoor asked.

"Meri maa!!!baadmein debate kr lena Nani aur patti ke saath is baare mein,abhi chal!"Ikbir said and she sighed and nodded.

The trio made their way outside in the living room with Iknoor walking between her Bhai and bhabhi.

She still didn't feel nervous,why?she doesn't know?

"Yeh h meri natin Dr.Iknoor"She heard her nanu introduce her and smiled,he was so proud of her being a doctor that he made sure whenever he introduced her to anyone he addressed her as Dr.Iknoor.

She silently went and kept the tea tray on the table and sat between her Nani and Patti.

She finally looked

at the occupants of the room to greet them when she received a huge shock.

Dr.Mahir Sehgal!

Her boss was sitting right in front of her,why???

She looked at her Nani with wide eyes.

"Puttar inke bete Nirvair se mil"Her nanu said instead.
